i don't think that what Nandan Nilekani is going to do is anyway near reality....He himself admits in an interview that the exact cost or estimate is not known.

Then he does not know how to deal with the cross border migration so that those unworthy do not get the number...On one side he says that UID would be used for creating a better public delivery system...and on the other when asked about the related security measures he says that they may not affect the scheme much.....because after all it will just ensure that X is X.......what logic??

In my opinion it would be better if the government machinery decides to work for the upheaval of already dying mechanisms of governance rather taking up such a mammoth project which may land up the already confused people in another jeopardy...

Better create basic amenities rather than solving the puzzle of numbering the people for deciding to whom to deliver...and rein in the defaulters....I fear another scam in the offering after all those come and go like laloos...
